Take Flight
I don’t think I’ll ever forget this hike, for many reasons. The physical challenge of the ascent, the expansive, gorgeous view at the top, birds swooping in and out of sight… Then meeting two lovely fellow hikers who stayed at the top for sunset, waiting for me to walk safely back with them.
It was pitch black almost instantly on the return through the dense old-growth forest. We spent it shrieking at enormous spiders and cry-laughing, trying to stop one of the girls (Danielle) from delving into her favorite murder podcast stories, her flashlight flickering on the moss of the towering trees.
